There is a popular book by John Gray titled 'Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus'. Its a nice book which talks on how the psyche of men work so different from that of women. And its true, a man's psyche is poles apart from a woman's psyche.
A woman's needs vary from a man's needs. From my experience, I have realized that the most basic needs of a woman are love and security. Some women express it openly, some don't. But, the need is there in the subconcious of every woman. More than money, more than physical beauty, more than social status, more than anything else, a woman needs love and security. And she ll do anything for the guy who provides her with it. Thats why we have cases of girls eloping with men who are much lesser to them financially. They do such an error because they feel that the guy will provide them with the love and security they need.
A guy's needs are different. Again from my experience, I have found out that the most basic needs of a guy is sex. This physical need is very strong in most men and not that strong in other, but the need is there. The physical aspect is more important to them than the emotional aspect. THats why the girls who elope with guys eventually find out that the guys have deserted them and have burdened them with a baby. So, beyond the emotional need, there is this physical need in men.

To get a guy in an emotional bond is very difficult.
But, mark my words, once a guy gets into an emotional relationship, he will do anything for the woman he loves. :-)
Men will be men ... Cant be with them, yet cant be without them.
Venus and Mars may bevery close to each other in the planetary system, but when it boils down to the relationship between a boy and a girl, they are much distant.

Oh my...! U sure have hit the nail right on its head. But yes, I would like to suggest that though guys most immediate interest is sex, that interest expands into loads of other things over time. And since guys arent as sensitive as girls are, it almost always takes a long time for the two to gel!
Well, i wouldn't bet on guys being less sensitive than girls. I have personally seen some boys even ready to give up their life for the girl they loved, while the girl choose to marry the person whom her dad choose.
I am not trying to blame either side. But love is a very delicate relationship, that requires the mutual trust, dedication, and commitment from either side.
If either of them are weak, then havoc is bound to happen.
As for men's craving for the dreaded 3 lettered word, "Sex", yup most of the men do like it.
But, not all are bad. If Sex was the only thing that mattered, there wouldn't have been any stories of Romeo and Juliet, Laila, and Majnu etc.
Sex is a part of life, just a part. I would prefer the term "Lovemaking" instead, since it deals with bonding of minds and souls as well.

Hmmmmm...i beg to differ on your opinion about men...we dont want to be sidelined as beings with animal instincts...we of cousre need sex, which is inevitable once in a serious relationship, but our first priority, atleast for 90% of us, is to earn money and be successful coz girls dont go behind unsuccessful ones (unless its true love of course)...ahem! excuse me for that satirical leakage but thats the truth with the present generation of romeo and juliets...looking from a neutral position i profess that both the guys and gals nowdays think smart before they enter into a relationship...thats why we dont see the shah jahans or a devdas or a salim that often these days...guys indeed are from mars and gals are unmistakably from venus...the more the distance the better for the species...
